On Method Versus Outcome (Part 1)

It is difficult to write accurately, especially if my hand struggles to translate immediately from my mind (i.e., pen and pad, computer keyboard). This has been an unnamable struggle for a long time. Now, that I can properly identify it, then I need to confront it.

This new means for creation will likely succeed over dry spells of progress, starting something new, or finishing a project. I don’t understand where the struggle originates from, or if it is an insignificant bout of anxiety.

Its quite easy to come up with ideas, and some very good ones. I don’t want to rely on moments of eureka or moments of inspiration. If there is a goal, then there must be a means for achieving my goals, in both days good and bad.

Take this blog for example. There are at least two means by which posts are published: I plan them out over a longer period of time, or I simply write according to what my current thoughts express. None are wrong, but nonetheless that should be identified and categorized. What I do want in the end is the ability to create things relatively quickly but not cheaply.

Before we proceed, we also need to confirm that writing is the best means for establishing ideas first. I learned many times and through many hard lessons that mere memorization or holding it too close to my mind and heart are insufficient. There is something strange about the human experience that I could best describe as “forgetting ideas so profound yet treating them as less profound.” Hence why I am grateful for particular means for saving notes, whether through my iPhone, pen and pad etc.

So, then, I will experiment with different methods that stick, per platform. WordPress is its own platform, so a dedicated method will apply. If some means of cross-pollination is justified, so be it; but I want to treat a method as exclusive to its own intended outcome, and I think that this is a better and more organized means.

The pressure of writing when I am sitting in front of the screen is so much different than writing ideas down in real-time moments of inspiration. When I say “On Method Versus Outcome,” I truly do mean it substantially, however, this is not what I intended to write. This is the visible struggle.

So then, I will mark this as “On Method Versus Outcome, Part 1.”

This post merely establishes a longer and more layered set of ideas, a set that cannot be laid out in one post.

Consider this an introduction to a longer reflection.

Perhaps when the mood strikes me better, then the true substance will flow more easily.

Right now, there is so much I can’t explain about my current mental state, that honestly just can’t flow with more spontaneity. Forgive me for that.

For now, I will write once a night, and see if a method reveals itself.
